Life together in the next 75

Q&A with Dan and Jody Anderson

Dan and Jody Anderson have been attending Trinity since the early 90s. They met in youth group and were married at Trinity in 2000. They then chose to raise their own family here at Trinity. Jody has served many years with Trinity’s children’s ministry. She’s taught Sunday school, served in nursery and Kids Church, helped with VBS, and been a supervisor in the Trinity Kids area on Sundays. As a teen Dan was involved with 2&3’s Kids Church. While their children were young, he volunteered in the nursery, children’s church, and Sunday School on and off. Starting in 2008 through when Covid shut everything down, he was a part of the Olympians/Kids Club program. Dan and Jody both currently serve as Deacons.

Shawn Carpenter: What would you encourage Trinity with to press on for another 75 years?

Dan & Jody: Trinity has been an integral part of our family life. Between biblical teaching, communal worship times, fellowship events, and relationships with other believers, the church family is interwoven in so many ways. We have created a culture where families truly “do life together.” We are so thankful for all the adults who have invested time and energy into teaching our children (and for those who continue to do so). Developing relationships with others in the church encourages further commitment and openness to the preaching and teaching. It’s critical that we remain grounded in scripture but also that we find ways to engage with the community. We would encourage Trinity to press on with all those aspects of ministry for another 75 years.

Shawn Carpenter: What will another 75 years take from those who call Trinity home?

Dan & Jody: As a church family, we all need to plug in and find ways to contribute! Through serving alongside others, you really form deeper connections within the church family. It’s critical that we continue to have programs for children and youth as well as adults of all ages and stages. Over the years, we have truly enjoyed teaching various children’s Sunday School classes, leading children’s church, helping with nursery and Kids Club. We are also now both serving as deacons. Another activity that we really enjoy is hosting the youth group every summer and fall for a fun evening of outdoor activities! It may seem daunting to have such a large group invade your yard, but they are always such a pleasure and the youth leadership takes care of just about everything from setup to cleanup!

Shawn Carpenter: How does God’s faithfulness encourage us to press on for another 75 years?

Dan & Jody: Over the past few years, there have been times when we found ourselves looking back at things that occurred in our lives, and realizing that there were specific moments when God was working in our lives. Those moments are hard to comprehend when they are occurring, but in retrospect become key moments in the narrative of our family. In the same way, as Trinity celebrates its 75th anniversary, we should look back at those key moments to remember how God worked in the past, faithfully building this church. And with those key moments in mind, we should be looking to the future, trusting that God will continue the work He started 75 years ago.
